Me

I did something in a moment of haste
that gives me heartaches each and every day.
I discovered that I can keep going long after
my energy has disappeared.
I've learned I am responsible for what
I say and do.
No matter the occasion.
It's taken me a long time to get where I'm at
on my way too where I'm going.
I've discovered either I control my attitude
or my attitude will control me.
The people I expected to kick me
while I was down were the ones who helped
me too stand back up.
I've realized just because you couldn't
love me the way I wanted you too...
Doesn't mean you didn't love me the best
that you could.
I am responsible for who and what I am today.
I've had to learn to forgive myself first
before I can begin to forgive others.
When I'm angry I don't have the right to be cruel.
I've found that learning a secret can change
my life and yours forever.
Just because two people choose to disagree doesn't
mean they don't care about each other.
And when they agree doesn't mean they care
about each other.
No matter how hot and steamy a relationship
is at the beginning when passions flames
subside as they always do there had better
be something else to take its place.
I've discovered that no matter how good of a
friend I am that sometimes I will hurt you
by some thoughtless word or deed that must
be forgiven before we can continue to grow.

Conquered

Without a word you conquered my mind
my heart and my soul.
You awoke so many fantasies within me.
You struck hidden chords within my heart.
I hear your voice in the late night hours
and sometimes in the early dawn.
You inspired me to question all of my
preconceived values and beliefs.
A torch upon my soul could not ignite
a fire to match your flames.
You were like a dream. The essence of desire.
A firey flame forsaken destroying what's
left of my soul.

Death's Agent

Warning: Disturbing Content

Like a slow, insidious, virus
they spread from house to house.
Building to building.
From graveyard to bedrooms.
From cellars to boardrooms.
They won when we were not looking.

The ancient hordes are the conquerors.
Survivors live under their sword.
What will they do with the world
they have won?
Through years of nightmare combat.
Their blood shedding in the dark.

Some humans join them. Becoming
like slaves or pets.
Some humans will do anything for a
little taste of power.
Even power reflected from those who
cast no reflection.

The human race has become desperate -
scrabbling in the dirt like crabs
and grasshoppers.
Hope tatters away a little more each
and every day.
Like an old flag, no longer used or honored.

It is not a good time to have warm
flowing blood in your veins.
To death's agents we are like an all
consuming drug to a junkie.
They wait until we are unwary then
they drain our only life's blood.

Where do we go from here?
Do we die like cattle?
Hung from our heels and bleeding?
Do we rise up and try to fight?
Or is fighting a useless defense?
Is there any hope left for mankind?
