You have a way of smiling as if everything was new. As if everywhere you turn you are making a discovery. Sometimes you have this far away look in your eyes. As if you see something that only you can see. It's as though you have a secret that is yours alone. Your smile will forever remain a mystery. The Stars There was no moon visible tonight. Only a crescent shadow that was briefly lost behind a cloud. The air was heavy with the night's moisture. Absolute darkness every where. The visible stars were so far away and shone icy and so cold. Nothing is stirring at this late night hour. Not a leaf, not a feather, not even another living soul. I Want I want for just one day and maybe one night To shine bright like a star. Not having to share the limelight with anyone. Just for once to stand there and soak up all the glory. If I was granted this one wish for one day and one night. To be a star.Feel like somebody important. I would be very afraid standing there all alone. Then when the morrow would come and I had to once more just be me. Would the aftereffects of all that stardom have lingering effects? Maybe I would not like who I had become. So I will just stand here in the shadows so I will not have to face who and what I really am. A Night A dark night. Emotional wasteland. A light. Emotional Graceland. Words from the heart. A reaching out mind. No worlds apart.People of the same kind. Friendship, affection. No use for dissatisfaction. Warm encouragement. To drink in encouragement. A pleasing suggestion.An open reflection. A hesitant reaction.An aim for perfection. A night. But no longer void of light. First strangers, now friends. It is within our own hands. Sensuality not mistaken for lust. We formed a token of trust. Inspiration not humilation. It was a precious kind of interaction blended with affection. And near the morning light our curiousity became satisfied. Nothing seemed right but defied desperation. No fear of this night you brought me much light. You and your words did alright. You were there for me all through the night. And as you said - Anything might! |
