My heartbeats are beating faster - faster.
Like the drums in the jungle.
But that is not what awakens me this night.
I hear your whispers in the dead of night.
Instantly I come awake.I know your voice.
I no mistake it for another.
Quickly I grab my spear and sandals.
And my animal, she is off with me into the night.
Faster, faster we both do run. Need no directions
me or my cat. The gods direct us where we go.
Nothing will stop us from that which we seek.
Our destiny lies somewhere out there in the darkness
of the jungles - up ahead.
Urgency and desire make up the chant resounding
in my heart, "Alpha I hear you. Alpha I come."
I feel your spirit. I feel your soul.
They are calling to me throughout the night.
And with each whisper my insides contract.
The Canyon
My life is like a canyon
without a crossing divider.
I want to wake up and be
on the other side of this
vast and lonely canyon.
Each and every ordeal makes
the canyon grow.
Someday my life will come
to a screeching halt, like
two contients joining together
after the Ice Age.
The Fight

My fears crowded in on me like a giant tidal wave.
The silence after the blows surrounds me and mocks me.
No matter what I have to do anything is better then
lying here in the dust so helpless and lost.
Heavy eyelids over blackened eyes blink at the
glistening tears upon my cheeks.
In the fading light of night I swipe away my tears
on the sleeve of my faded nightgown.
I
thought it could never happen to me. That was only for women
who deserved to be beaten.
Promises made each time afterward by him, and quickly
forgotten.
Ambulance drivers and police ever alert for my frantic calls.
Like a pattern in a crazy quilt his moods quickly
go from bad to worse.
Little things set him off and never the same thing twice.
I saw my moma in my daughters eyes and I felt so ashamed.
I must get help for both me and her before she becomes
another battered wife.

Waves of longing I send to you.
Across the miles they make their way.
I feel your presence. I know you are near.
I smell your essence. I taste your love.
My body feels your touch. My lips your kiss.
My souls on fire. My animal awakens.
Oh know that I am yours. And that you are mine.
We are forever bonded throughout all time.
